We will be hosting a Dance Dance Revolution/DDR Tournament sometime next month to get us pumped up for Houkocon 2007 and our club that hosts the event, The Japanese Animation Club of the Treasure Coast.
Please say thanks to the Arcade crew at Superplay for helping in making this tournament possible by letting us use their dedicab. ---

Major Updates, for Cosplay and Hotels
1. Registration page has been updated with times to pick up your pass and when you can purchase one.
Minor update. For hotel, there must be 10 rooms booked or no group rate at all, so if you know you're staying at a hotel please fill out the poll. So far, only four rooms/people are staying at both hotels while eighteen are staying at their homes and commuting.
Also, pre-registration ends this Saturday! So if you want to beat the registration line, which is surely going to be outrageous con weekend, then pre-register today!
2. Hotel. Hotel. Noticing a lot of hotel questions at other forums than our own forums... a lot of hotel woes. Here is the deal with the hotels, all hotel information is listed in the ' location ' page at the bottom. There are two hotels listed that are local and the closet to the Port Saint Lucie Community Center. The Marriott Springfield Suites is 125 a night while the Hamilton Inn and Suites (a Hilton Family Hotel) is 119 a night.
No, there is no shuttle service due to the fact that there is no group rate in place and a large enough of people to form a block to get a shuttle to and from the community center. That's why it is crucial for everyone to fill out this poll so, if can, in time set up a group rate and look into possible shuttling. Again, the closet hotels are located right off of I-95 on exit 121 and they are the Hamilton Inn and Suites and the Marriot Springfield Suites.
Please, also remember, we're a first year event. Please do not expect nothing more than that! ^^;;;;
3.We've been recieving an influx on questions concerning the cosplay contest. All the rules and regulations are explained, thoroughly, on the cosplay page of this website. Times, dates, music, etc are listed there. Please read before asking a question that the answer maybe there for.
Another question we recieve a lot is why we're not on Sunday, rather than a Friday and Saturday.... the reason is that the center we're at has church groups that meet up the first half of the day (7am - 1pm), and we couldn't get that date. Dates are not in our hands, dates of events are always in the hands of the venue in which we're renting. We are sorry for this inconvience!
The last, but number one question we always recieve is concerning the event programming. Again, this will NOT be released until the week of the convention. We're always making changes to the schedule and do not want to release a false schedule, also, its 20 days too early for a programming chart to be launched. If you want to know what's going on at the convention, go to the events page where all the events that are happening this year are listed.
4. Those who are participating in the cosplay contest: Registration for the event is on Friday, June 16th, the event begins Saturday, June 17th. If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to contact us.
6. There was a mistake with the offline mail-in pre-registration form. For those who have sent them out already, don't worry, we'll acknowledge the mistake but for those who are in question about pre-registration, it has been fixed and it IS $15 dollars for the weekend, the standard at door rate. You can either pre-register online through Mollygard using either a credit card or paypal account, through the mail using the mail-in form and paying in either check, cash, or money order... OR you can purchase your weekend pass onsite on Friday ONLY.

* Brian Clevenger is coming to Houkocon
Brian Clevenger
The creator of the original 8-Bit Theater series. If you don't know what 8-Bit theater is, then you've been under a rock for many many years. 8-bit theater is a weekly comic strip based off of the FF sprites that have caused many parodies and spoofs to be born (like 8-Bit D&D to name a few). For more information on 8-bit theater, click here for the wiki site.
You can catch Brian in the Dealers Room throughout the convention!

10 dollar pre-registration has ended. From April 4th to June 3rd, the At Door rate will be avalible for purchase online through Mollyguard. Preregistration ends June 3rd at 12am EST.
And since we are members of OA, we felt it would be nice that any OA member that comes to Houkocon this year... if they present their OA badge, they get in for five dollars for the whole weekend. :) You must have your badge though!
